Just curious... how much did you get for it? I've got a MBP 2.2 15" 120GB, and if I upgrade anytime soon it would be good information about the resale market.

Hi,
I'm trying to install 10.3 on an old Tangerine G3 333 iMac. I've upgraded the RAM and the OS9 that was already instlalled was running fine. I then swapped out the HD booted off of the 10.3 install CD, erased HD and partitioned it to 7GB/33GB.
So far so good. I start the install and everything seems to be going just fine, but it never ask for the 2nd install CD. It goes through disk optimization and everything while still on the 1st CD. Then it reboots itself, but fails to find the OS on the HD and ends up wanting to install again.
I've done this 4 or 5 times now and can't figure out what is happening. Anyone have any ideas?

Also, from an email I got from apple: Apple Expo will begin at 11 a.m. (CET) Tuesday, September 20 at the Porte de Versailles in Paris. There will not be a formal keynote presentation at this year's Apple Expo at Palais des Congr�s.
So I'm guessing that means no major releases. You may have to hold out a while longer for your multi-media 'Pod yet!
..But you never know with Apple - damn them, damn them all!

You reminded me of the joke where two guys walking down the street see a mugger approaching. One guy quickly hands the other guy a $20 bill and says "Here's the beer money I owe you".

i think it's a great mac for anyone, starter or not!
example: I am habituated to my Dual G5, yet my 350MHz PMG4 is never a pain to use and is actually rather speedy at many things. I can only imagine what a faster G4 would be like

Great games have no expiration date ;)
One of my boys has picked this game up again. The last time he played it was on an Athlon XP machine with an FX5500 card and needed oldBlivion to get it working on min settings. On his 2007 iMac, its just night and day difference and he is rediscovering everything again in much higher detail. It is quite a visually stunning game.

It takes 578mhz to do one w/u a day. Therefore that would mean an 867mhz would do 1.5 a day (accurate, thats what my PB does) and a 266mhz would do one every 2.1 days, also accurate. Someone compare my equation to their computer. All you do is take your CPU speed and divide it by 578. It *should* give you roughly the w/u you complete in one day.
First off, every work unit is different. Second did you take into account that if SETI runs in Blank screen mode it runs WUs faster? Of course not. I run a B/W G3/300 in blank screen mode and can complete a WU in 20-22 hrs. I have stated before that in Blank screen mode WUs can be crunched much faster than screensaver mode. I figure my WU times by looking at the percentage of WU completion per hour. 300MHz = roughly 5% per hour. 450/466 MHz = roughly 7.5% per hour. 1.25GHz = 16% per hour. Take your 100 and divide by the average completion per hour---100/7.5=13.33hrs.

You either loved or hated the puck. If it was clean, it felt great to use. I still have them and use one on the blueberry iMac I have in the garage. I personally liked it a lot. That said, I still use the original black Pro Mouse to this day with my main setup.

If you have an external USB DVD ROM drive - yes, OSX DVD will boot from it (that's how I installed) - just press alt when starting up and select it for boot.
Otherwise if you leave the current disk as it is - it will boot from there and then you can clone it to SSD and then boot from SSD and reformat the older drive. Not recommended if you have lots of stuff on the old drive - fresh install cloning is fine as the previous poster said.
Time Machine should not have any trouble at all.
