Doubt screen size has anything to do with it - I'm running three displays off my Mini without any lag (2 at 1920x1080 aka 1080p and one at 1920x1200).

Do you have the Mac Mini plugged into a port labeled HDMI/DVI that is perhaps handled differently by the TV? I'm thinking image processing on the TV might be the cause of the lag, but I'm not 100% sure.

I don't have one yet, which is why I was asking...lol...glad to hear it works great though.

and way into high posting, one can be a 601 at 5,000 posts

i don't know what the next level will be or at how many posts

it could be the 602, which was not a widely used processor, or the more common 603...but then i wonder if the 603e will be another level or if arn decides the person is a 604...of course, there was the 604e after that

and after the 6xx levels, there is the G3, G4, and G5 and it's a mystery where those sit at

    and is there a G6??

If you have a computer that you are able to use in the meantime, sell you MBA over craigslist and make due with the other computer until the refresh comes. If you can get a really good price for your current model then obviously you would only be putting very little cash towards the refresh.

If you DONT have a temp. computer to use, then wait until the refresh and see what it has to offer. You can still sell your MBA over craigslist for a little bit less and put it towards the newer refresh.

For your needs you will be fine with your current model. Since it was a gift you can use whatever money you have saved now and pull the trigger for a whole lot less.

People here successfully buy and sell during every refresh or 2 with very little to shell out for price differences. Take care of your mac, do daily research for MBA news, and make the decision.

I like keeping singles as a separate album. :) But yeah, since my last post, I worked on some groupings and they look great. I just wish they were enabled in iPod and iPhone...

the problem is that I do not have even one, not to say two. Can you please give me some suggestion on which brand to buy?

You're on a Mac Rumors forum here. MBA 11" for extreme portability

if your rating is low (I would say below 10) I would recommend that you just buy a bunch of cheap crap just for the feedback. I know they sell a lot of postcards and things for like a quarter. Other than that, I agree with ITASOR. The photo(s) makes or breaks the sale. Look at some other Imac g4 photos and see what looks good and what doesn't.

And last but not least, don't gouge on shipping. that's just tacky.

If you wipe the SSD, as the OP indicated, there IS no Safari history left.... or Safari.

I know, it was just a wee bit of humour. ;)

Maybe I'm getting old, but there doesn't seem to be any right now. :( All of the games I find interesting are being funneled/gimped to the 360, or the promising ones have been blah in general. The only game that my PC buddies got into, which I didn't for obvious reasons, was WoW, which of course is cross platform. Now that's all some of them play.

I haven't bought a PC game for a few years now. My PC Tower(s) are only on for a little bit of work these days.

What type of games do you like, I can ask my friends if they've found anything good at the moment, or if WoW is still consuming their lives? I've been gaming on PCs since the eighties and prior to this drout used ot game all of the time, mostly online and via LAN parties. And MS thinks we'll pay for services that are still free...

This is the only game (http://www.2kgames.com/bioshock/) I'm even remotely interested in playing. But I'm not hold my breath, since System Shock 2 and other games that uses a similar approach to the first one, kind of blew chuncks in comparison.

Well, by "working off the server" I HOPE you don't mean working off a live HTTP server! That is, I hope they aren't modifying a live web-server in place.

If you're talking about a fileserver, you are MUCH better off working "off the server". That way, you can enforce backup whether your designers like it or not. If they copy stuff down and back up, you can bet they will squirrel stuff away on their own machine where it will get lost. (Of course, they are going to do this anyway! One strategy is to limit the amount of disk space on their machines...)

I also hope you have some sort of revision control system in place. Of course you don't. You're a design firm ;)

I'm pretty good programming in PHP and Javascript, but now I need something that allows me to create simple desktop apps. Mostly it will be for automation scripts, too much for Apple Script, but not complex enough to jump into Cocoa and Objective-C. Examples: Manipulating text files (sorting, dupe line checking, adding/cutting parts, splitting/combining files etc.), uploading a file to several different FTP servers, sending POST requests to a server.

I often hear Pearl and Python mentioned and I believe they are pre-installed on the Mac, but I don't know much about them. What's the main difference? Which one (or something else?) would be best suited for these tasks? Which one is easier to learn?

Bonus: What's a good site to learn for someone who has general programming knowledge, but is a total noob with those languages?

Now, what is the only thing that needs an update? ;)
Are you referring to 10.4.8 or the C2D MBP?

See, there's not just one update needed currently.;)

I don't know, I just hope we don't get any bad ones where I am for the next three years or so. Give me time to finish my Master's degree, sell my condo and get the ******* out of here (as is my plan).

Try the full reset as iceterminal suggests. May cases of corrupted software can cause battery drainage. Also make sure you are running the most recent OS.

If that does not solves it and you are still on warranty take it to the Apple store for a battery replacement.

Also here is the official Apple info on battery care:

    http://www.apple.com/batteries/iphone.html

    Hope that helps.

When they made the switch into a for-profit money making business, I said this was a possibility... that they may go overboard in the revenue boosting side, at the expense of the clients.

It's a path that many businesses take, unless they follow the customer first model instead. Which doesn't make the investors as happy, but it does help keep a happy client base growing.

The ads are everywhere because they're trying to squeeze every penny out they can.

And it CAN get worse, think along the bank and cable company models.

There's a lot of money that they haven't even started going after yet -- a $1-10 a month here, there, and everywhere.
